Letters of Agreement Between Home Exchangers
Car Exchange Agreement
If you agree to exchange cars with your home exchange partner, it’s advisable to put the terms in writing. Use the following guidelines:
We agree to
- limit mileage to _______________ (insert # of miles agreed upon OR write in "no limit") during our stay
- provide proof of insurance
- provide the name and ph. number of our insurance agent
- leave car registration and insurance policy in the car
- provide the name and ph. number of at least one road service company in our area
- provide the name and ph. number of a local car mechanic or repair shop
- restrict driving of the car to home exchangers at least 21 years old with valid driver’s license
- check the water, oil and tires periodically
- return the car washed, interior cleaned, and tank full
- leave instructions for operating car alarm

Pet Care Agreement
If your home exchange partner is willing to care for your pet(s), you may want to write up an agreement by using the following guidelines:

Use of Computer Agreement
Home exchangers often agree informally to use or not use each other’s computers. However, if you are more comfortable with a written agreement, use the following guidelines:

Use of Phone Agreement
Some home exchangers prefer to spell out their expectations for handling phone charges. If you want to do so, use the following guidelines:
As home exchange partners, we agree to pay for all long distance calls we make from each other’s homes during our exchange. We will work out a mutually acceptable plan for doing so.
